Just had the most wonderful shopping experience at Baby Earth! It's like the sophisticated big sister of Babies R Us (or the good twin of USA Baby), with none of the crowds, messes, or overwhelming warehouse feel.
The showroom is broken into two main areas: basic baby care, carseats & strollers on the right; baby carriers and nursery decor on the left. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff person who asks if you need help finding something particular; if you don't, you'll be left to browse in peace (something I appreciate), knowing that someone is within earshot if you do have a question. On this trip (a weekday morning), I was the only customer in the store, with the blessed sound of silence all around me (try THAT at Babies R Us).
Most of the BE offerings are high-end, boutique-style products, things that aren't carried by the big box stores (e.g., strollers from makers like Stokke, Orbit Baby, bugaboo, Maclaren, phil & ted's, BOB, Zooper, BumbleRide, etc.). Since the name change from Baby Wise to Baby Earth, they are also specializing in eco-friendly baby products like organic crib mattresses, non-plastic baby bottles and sippy cups, etc.
As you might guess, these items are not inexpensive, so don't expect to find many bargains. On the other hand, you can always check out the clearance, "open box," and "scratch & dent" offerings on the website and come up with some pretty great deals. I found a travel case for my precious BOB jogger (a group shower gift from dear friends; I'd never throw down the dough for that thing!) marked down by 20% just because it had been returned. Sweet!
Today's trip was to buy an Ergo baby/toddler carrier, a kind of frameless backpack for lugging your little one when a stroller isn't practical. BE is one of only a handful of places in town where you can get this product, and the only one not in downtown Austin. BE not only had the Ergo in stock in all colors, they had all the accessories I needed (and some I didn't know I needed until I saw them on display - oops). My purchase was packed into a free reusable shopping tote and I also received a complimentary logo'd rubber ducky.
If you are pregnant or parenting a baby, or know someone who is, give Baby Earth a try. They also offer a gift registry, so you can let all your relatives and well-wishers spend their big bucks on those big ticket items.
I just received a gift from BunnyburyBaby.com—a darling hooded towel set for my baby boy and the cutest pair of Robeez shoes with sharks on them. I then went to check out the website and found it to be a wonderful site with all sorts of goodies. Your diaper bag selection is phenomenal and I especially loved the Fleurville Escape Pods.
Thank you for the wonderful products! I have ordered several times from your site and have been very pleased. I love the organic products that are offered. I also love the SwaddleDesigns blankets and burpies and the colors they come in. I recently ordered Lollie Monkey by Blabla and I love her. I appreciate that she was made by ladies in Peru and your commitment to Fair Trade. My purchase was just as I expected, the service was fast and accurate. I love the selections and find the site easy to use.
